New Hall Caravan Park is a family owned business established over 60 years offering over 200 fully serviced pitches situated on a plateau in the valley formed by the Bedburn River on the eastern boundary of Hamsterley Forest, only a short walk from Hamsterley Village in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Lower Teesdale, known locally as 'The Land of The Prince Bishops' in what used to be the hunting lands of the nobility.
Being only 5 miles from the A68, on the border of Teesdale / Weardale, the Caravan Park offers an ideal base from which to visit County Durham's many tourist attractions and is only a stones throw from the Counties of North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Northumberland offering some of the finest scenery in Northern England.
Hamsterley Forest extending to some 5000 acres is only a short walk along the river bank from the Park. The forest is a haven for wildlife and offers riverside walks, visitors centre/shop, adventure playground and facilities for cycling and pony trekking. The Forest also offers an orienteering course and world class cross country mountain biking, including a purpose built downhill course extending to 1.5km with 120m vertical drop....a must for serious mountain bikers.
Local Tourist Attractions include the market towns of Barnard Castle and Middleton in Teesdale. Historic buildings include Bowes Museum, Killhope Lead Mining Centre, Raby Castle, Eggleston Hall Gardens, Auckland Castle and the Auckland Project including its Mining Art Gallery, Observation Tower, Spanish Art Gallery / Walled Garden (opening soon) and during the summer months, 'Kynren' the Epic Tale of England - an open-air theatre production involving 1,000 volunteers...and not forgetting the impressive World Heritage Site of Durham Cathedral and Castle.
Sample some of the highest and finest scenery in Northern England, offering opportunities for all leisure activities, walking, cycling, angling, golf and the best wildlife Durham has to offer
